The Emergency Syria – Breaking the Barriers Program addressed the urgent need for humanitarian support in the wake of Syria’s ongoing civil crisis. In partnership with the Andrea Bocelli Foundation and UNHCR, this initiative focused on supplying vital basic necessities to millions of forcibly displaced Syrian families residing in refugee camps across Jordan. These families fled violence and instability, often with nothing, and the project sought to restore dignity and meet immediate survival needs through coordinated, compassionate action.

 Beneficiary Profile

This initiative directly supported Syrian refugees—families and individuals who had been forced to flee their homes due to the prolonged and devastating conflict in Syria. Living in UNHCR-managed camps in Jordan, these refugees often lacked access to the most basic supplies needed for survival, particularly in harsh weather conditions. The beneficiaries included vulnerable populations such as children, the elderly, and those in critical need of first asylum aid.

 Safavi's Role

Safavi supported this initiative as a partner funder, contributing resources through the Andrea Bocelli Foundation to amplify the emergency response efforts of UNHCR. The foundation coordinated the procurement and distribution of life-sustaining items—such as blankets and clothing—ensuring that refugee families received urgent support. Safavi's involvement helped accelerate delivery and increased visibility for the cause, while encouraging others to contribute through joint advocacy messaging.

Impact Achieved

Through this collaborative response, thousands of Syrian refugees in Jordan received critical supplies that directly improved their quality of life and ability to withstand difficult living conditions. The program successfully delivered essential goods such as warm clothing and bedding, providing immediate relief to families experiencing winter temperatures without shelter or resources. These tangible impacts served as a lifeline during a period of acute need.

Purpose & Signifigance

This initiative aligned deeply with Safavi’s commitment to human dignity, rapid response to crisis, and global partnership. The Syrian refugee crisis remains one of the most pressing humanitarian emergencies of our time. Supporting this initiative allowed Safavi to contribute meaningfully to a cause of international urgency while leveraging trusted partnerships to maximize efficiency and reach. In doing so, it underscored the Institute’s broader values of compassion, solidarity, and justice.

Future Outlook

While the initial distribution has been completed, the humanitarian need persists. Safavi remains open to future collaboration with the Andrea Bocelli Foundation and UNHCR in response to evolving crises. Ongoing advocacy and strategic funding are under consideration as the region continues to grapple with displacement, resettlement, and long-term recovery challenges.
