Project Overview

The Young Female Musicians Initiative nurtures musical talent among young migrant women who have been displaced from their home countries—especially Ukraine—by conflict. Founded by Beatrice Safavi, the program recognizes the healing, identity-affirming, and community-building power of music, and seeks to support promising individuals through education, training, and career advancement opportunities within Austria’s cultural landscape.
Beneficiary Profile
This initiative primarily supports young Ukrainian women who are pursuing careers in music but have been interrupted by displacement. Many recipients are classically trained musicians or music educators who bring exceptional talent but lack access to formal training, mentorship, or job placement opportunities in Austria. The program prioritizes those with demonstrable skill and a passion to re-engage with their craft in their new environment.
Safavi's Role
The initiative is spearheaded and directly funded by the Safavi Impact Institute through the leadership of Beatrice Safavi. Support provided includes:
Music scholarships covering tuition, instrument rental, and transportation
Personalized German language and cultural immersion courses tailored to musicians
Internships and hands-on training at prestigious Austrian music academies
Career navigation and job-readiness support for musicians seeking teaching or performance positions in Austria
All activities are conducted in collaboration with trusted local partners and educational institutions.

Impact Achieved
To date, the initiative has:
Awarded music scholarships to a select group of talented young women, including Valeriia Dolhikh, Luciia Koval, Maria Voronova, and Natalia Vorobiova
Facilitated real-world internships at respected Austrian music schools
Provided immersive language and cultural training designed to help musicians articulate their expertise confidently in German
Helped recipients build professional networks and visibility in Austria’s classical music community
Purpose & Signifigance
The program reflects Safavi’s belief that nurturing the full humanity of displaced individuals includes supporting their passions, talents, and identities—not just their survival. Music becomes a bridge for healing and professional rebirth, allowing young women to once again find purpose and voice. It also enriches Austria’s cultural fabric through the integration of new, global perspectives in music and arts education.
Future Outlook
Planned next steps include:
Scaling the scholarship program to reach more applicants
Establishing longer-term fellowships for those seeking music education careers in Austria
Partnering with music conservatories to develop formal pathways to certification and employment
Continuing one-on-one support for graduates as they transition into permanent teaching or performance roles
