On December 10, 2024, the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT), together with the Safavi Impact Institute, presented the progress of their innovative project aimed at creating a modern data space. The goal of the project is to provide effective support for migrants in Austria, particularly Ukrainian refugees, and to facilitate their integration into society and the labor market.

Mario Drobics, Head of the Competence Unit for Cooperative Digital Technologies, and Ghazal Etminan, Senior Research Engineer at AIT, participated in the presentation. They outlined the results achieved so far and shared the next steps. The planned data space is designed to serve as a central platform where migrants can securely manage documents, access tailored job opportunities, and communicate more easily with authorities and other stakeholders. Key features will include multilingual support and improved job-matching functionality.

Mario Drobics emphasized:

“This project demonstrates how digital technologies can be strategically applied to foster integration and create long-term solutions to societal challenges.”

The project team is now preparing for the next phase, which involves developing and testing a first prototype. The long-term goal is to build a sustainable platform that provides real support for all users and strengthens collaboration between key actors.
